I try to be rather particular about keeping my grill clean. Especially since we had a couple of close calls over the years with flare ups and near fires. So I have been rather anal about keeping BBQ brushes around.
I always had the Wal-mart specials that I would buy at the end of grilling season for 2 bucks a pop and would then wear one out the next year. I even bought one once that had a replaceable head.
Then I started hearing about people getting the fine metal fibers stuck in there intestines and that didn’t sound like a lot of fun. I even had an old friend from college spend quite a bit of time in the hospital because of it.
So once again I started on a journey to find a better product. I started with a bamboo fiber brush which was surprisingly effective and thought it would be my go to grill brush. However it had one major flaw. It does not like heat. Which is a big deal if you like to clean your grill as soon as you’re done. It would clean the grill fine but if I put too much pressure on it the bristles would burn up rather quickly.
So i started reading up on Amazon reviews looking for something that is the best of both worlds. Safe to use and hopefully last a long time. I ended up settling on this Twisted Metal Design BBQ brush. It has a heavy duty spiral metal brush surface which is tons thicker than the old bristles and the design of it means they won’t break off. The scraper part is angled just right to get between the grill slats and the handle is long enough to keep your hand away from the heat. This has become my go to BBQ brush and it shows not signs of wear or giving up anytime soon.
