This is one of those items that is so simple and so cheap that I don’t know how I made it 39 years on Gods green earth without owning one. I am the type of carnivore who likes his steak cooked on the rare side of medium rare. However I have to admit, for many years, I couldn’t grill one without cutting into it or over cooking it, either a cardinal sin in my books.
I decided it was time to get a digital thermometer and the only thing I knew was it needed to be instant read. I started reading a ton of amazon reviews and discovered there were a lot of off brands obviously made from the same factory and they all had similar top notch reviews. So I picked the cheapest one called Smak Brand and the rest as they say is history. I now use it for steak, pork chops and chicken breast. It has been the single best investment I have ever made in my grilling game.
The Smak Thermometer is waterproof, easy to keep clean, reads instantly and is magnetic. It does just one thing, it tells you the temp and it tells you it instantly. There isn’t much more to say other than when I got my two oldest kids BBQ’s for Easter this year I ordered them each one of these thermometers to go along with them. One more thing, it is still going on the factory battery it came with a 2032 button cell which all of my kitchen gadgets take.
