When my handyman business started to grow I started to get a rather large collection of tools, and our town started getting burglarized more than normal, I decided a security system was in order.
I knew I didn’t want a system that would call the police because that is just a pain. All I wanted was a system that I could review the footage if something went missing or I could monitor live on my phone if i was away. The Jooan Security System more than fit the bill.
It comes with the DVR, four HD cameras, and all the wires you need to install it. You don’t need any internet if you just want to record locally. As well it doesn’t come with a hard-drive so you need to purchase one of those. I got a 2 TB Seagate and it is enough to store a month at a time, 24-7 recording all four streams.
I have had this well over a year now, and I liked it then, I love it now. It has never let me down. One day after a weekend away, I came home and my garage door was open. I went back through the footage and discovered my door was opening on itself, which gave me some piece of mind.
The system has worked flawlessly in the extreme cold of the prairies and if you paired it with a universal power supply it would be perfect power outage security system. If you want to access it remotely the DVR needs to be on the internet with a hardwired cable, but once you set it up its perfect. There is a slight learning curve to setting up the remote software but once you work it out it never messes up.
I liked it so much I have since upgraded and added a fifth camera to fill in a blind spot around my house. Oh and by the way it is up-gradable to 8 cameras so that’s a plus. If you are looking for a self monitored security system that won’t break the bank they don’t get much better than this.
