One day walking through Costco a bright red product caught my eye, First Alert Fire Spray. I had just started doing tool reviews and figured what the heck I’ll take A two pack home and me and my girls can test them out. Have some fun, make a video and see if they are ok, or don’t work at all.

For someone who is into being prepared for the most common household emergencies, I am horrible about keeping fire extinguishers tested and up to date. Will they still work? Probably, but I loved the idea of have some aerosol spray cans, that are more affordable than extinguishers that i could just stash away in the house wherever fire is most likely to happen. I figured four spray cans in four places are better than one out of date extinguisher that’s never where you want it when you need it.

So I first tested it out on a pot of burning paper in my back yard. Then I let my daughter who was 10 at the time, try it, and then I tried it on a grease fire. And damn didn’t it work better than I thought it would or could. The same single can did all three fires and then still felt half full. So I threw it under the kitchen sink next to a brand new full one.

Of course a few months later, I had a nasty flare up on the bbq and figured now was the chance. So I tested it out and it worked like a charm and there is still a bunch left in the can, next to the full one ready to go, just in case.

These First Alert Fire Spray Cans are better than a no extinguisher any day of the week. The company itself won’t come out and say its as good as a traditional extinguisher, which I am sure is for legitimate reasons, but they are an incredible fire fighting tool, that deserves a spot in any well prepared household.
