A person does not need to spend much at all if they want to be a content creator. Almost everyone carries around with them a top notch video camera. That is honestly all you need to get started. Once you get started there will come a time when you might want to upgrade and start getting better gear. First I would say get a tripod, and then secondly invest in a good mic.

Viewers will excuse so-so video quality, but if they can’t hear you they will move on quickly. I get asked often enough what type of equipment I use so I figured it was time to do a post. Other than my iPhone 12 I use a tripod, a $50 fifine wireless mic and just recently added a box light to my gear but that’s it.

I tried a wired lapel mic, and wasn’t happy with the results it gave me and more than that I can’t stand being attached to something, as I tend to pull it over when I walk and talk. I then moved on to a shotgun mic which was an improvement with a mic stand, but it had to be super close and as soon as I turned my head the sound would noticeably get worse. So I decided on a wireless mic that followed me no matter where I moved my head.

I almost sent this back in the first month as I constantly had issues with sound quality, namely interference. It was bad enough that i ruined man good takes of full videos. Eventually I figured out the problem was a faulty garage door opener once unplugged this mic worked perfectly. Its reliable, top quality for the cost and the battery life is great even with rechargeables.
