The Dewalt Inflation Station is one of those products that seems like it might be a bit of a pipe dream. I have used many el-cheapo 12 v cigarette lighter, style inflators over the years and been disappointed by every single one. They either heat up too quick and shut off, can’t put out enough air to even fill a bike tire, or just give up the ghost entirely on the first use.
The Dewalt Inflator exceeded my expectations in every way. My little hot dog compressor just wasn’t cutting it any more, and when I knocked it off the shelf and broke the regulator I needed something better to pump up wheelbarrow and lawn mower tires. I looked at the Dewalt cordless compressor, but I didn’t want to spend that kind of money, plus I had just got the cordless brad nailer so I wouldn’t need a compressor. So I came across the Dewalt Inflator and decided to give it a shot. I bought just the bare tool as I already had a ton of batteries and gave it a test.
I started with topping up my zero turn mowers front and back tires, which have slow leaks, and it inflated them in no time flat (pardon the pun). I then decided to top up my old F150 I use to haul gravel with. I overinflated each tire from 32 PSI to 40 PSI and it did each one in way less than five minutes each. My hotdog compressor would still be filling up.
Finally it also inflates kids pool toys and air mattresses. I thought this was a gimmick as well, but a person doesn’t realize how often you need to inflate something like that until you have to do it manually. It blew me away on how fast it did that as well.
Finally you can get a soft sided storage case for it as well, which means you can easily throw it under the back seat when taking long road trips. Pair it with a Victor Tire Plug Kit and you will be able to handle 90% of flats right there and then on the side of the road.
