TODAY’S TOOL – Box Of Rags

One of the most boring items a person uses in their shop is something as simple as the lowly rag. I tend to keep worn out shirts and other pieces of clothing. Cut them up and use them as rags in my shop. The biggest problem with reusing old clothing is some material isn’t very absorbent and others tend to leave a lot of lint behind.

So one day I was walking through Costco and saw this box of 75 rags, I thought why not. I gave them a shot and never looked back. First off they are cheap enough to justify throwing out if you need to wipe up something nasty. And they are durable enough to be reused and survive up to 50 washes.

Beyond wiping up messes and spills in the garage, they are also absolutely perfect for cleaning windows. They suck up their weight in water and don’t leave streaks behind. I have tried things like blue shop towels and the recycled vacuum sealed rags that are cut up clothing, but nothing works a good as this plain old box of microfiber grab-a-rags
